Test Pieces - Pocket Bowls
Test Pieces - Pocket Bowls
Full-sized test bowls, each an experiment with layered glazes, in search of new effects. Subtle textures and soft mattes, in food-safe neutral tones on wheel-thrown earthenware clay.
Pocket bowls are 9'“ diameter and 2.5” high, approximately.
“Black Lace” - An exploration of texture melts on matte glazes. Definitely something I’ll try again soon (sold out for now, watch this space)!
“Ostrich” - It feels like an eggshell! Subtle, creamy matte glaze with slight texture and speckle, from wood ash in the recipe. (sold out)
“Golden Tan” - Similar to the Ostrich surface, but a little more satin to the touch. Soft tan-beige with flecks of gold from wood ash, brushed over the piece before firing. (2 in stock)
“Black Slate” - Cousin to the Black Lace, with a soft sheen and varied surface. Semi-matte finish. (4 in stock)
“Pearl” - Two rosy, satin matte bowls. Slight golden sheen provided by overcoat of ash glaze. Subtle and soothing. Slight violet tint to an otherwise neutral color. (sold out for now, but those were nice!)
