Because the world needs more flowers! (and places to put them)
Wheel-thrown earthenware with wide variety of finishes: slips, matte glazes, underglaze colors. Hand-carved and stamped decorations. I make vases for fun when I have time, always exploring new combos of textures, dimensions and colors.
‘Waves and Fades,’' in bright tones, are inspired by decorations that usually adorn my drums. ‘Earthtones’ also started on drum forms, with rich, warm color effects from the terracotta clay, and earthy primary hues. Both of these finishes include added metal spangles for some in-firing special flashes and melts.
Texture and glaze trials in 2020-2021, led to surfaces like “Barnacle” and “Butterfly”,followed by the bright reds and oranges of the “Lipstick” vases.
Useful and unique, and always something new. Watch this space!
